Campobello Town Council
MINUTES
February 2, 2009
The regular monthly meeting of the Campobello Town Council was held on February 2, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. in the
fire department training room. Those present were Mayor Ray Copeland and council members Willie Matthews,
Don Cohenour, Mel Puckett, and Lee Neves.
Don Cohenour made a motion to accept the January 5, 2009 minutes as written. Seconded by Willie Matthews the
minutes were unanimously approved.
Police Chief Chad McNeill reported that he is not able to give any statistics for the month of January due to the
county computers being out of service this date.
Fire Chief Eddie McNeill reported that the fire department responded to a total of 16 calls for the month of January
and that the ceiling tiles in the training room have been replaced.
Mel Puckett reported that he, Don Cohenour, and Chad McNeill attended a meeting at the county administration
offices held by the county to discuss the proposed 800 megahertz radio system that is scheduled to be operational
by 2012. He advised that they explained the need for the system and the grant the county has applied for to
cover. Chief McNeill explained that at some point the change will be mandatory but until a way is found to cover
the additional costs for the project he sees no urgency in continuing with the current communication system.
Mel Puckett stated that since he has been helping out in Town Hall he has come to realize how many complaints
the town gets about trash pickup service and just how bad the service has become over the last year. He stated
that he would like to see the town send a very strong letter signed by the Mayor to GDS, Inc. and request a
meeting with them to express our concerns and work on getting any problems corrected. After a brief discussion
Mel Puckett made a motion to send a letter to GDS, Inc. Seconded by Don Cohenour the motion was unanimously
approved.
With no other business presented Willie Matthews made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Lee Neves the meeting
adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
