MINUTES
April 6, 2009
The regular monthly meeting of the Campobello Town Council was held on April 6, 2009 in the fire department
training room. The meeting was called to order at 7:12 PM. Those present were Mayor Ray Copeland and
Council Members Willie Matthews, Don Cohenour, Lee Neves and Mel Puckett
Councilman Matthews made a motion to accept the March 2, 2009 minutes as written.
Second by Councilwoman Neves, the minutes were unanimously approved.
Police Chief Chad McNeill reported a total of 28 calls during the month. Chief McNeill reported the approval and
receipt of a grant to purchase 4 new tasers for the Police Department. The tasers were purchased through the
NRA.
Fire Chief Eddie McNeill reported a total of 19 calls were made in the month with a total of 79 man hours.
Each Council member was provided a copy of the new Municipal Service Agreement presented by Duke Energy. A
motion was made by Councilman Cohenour to accept the agreement as written for a first reading and this motion
was second by Councilwoman Neves. The motion passed without opposition.
Councilman Puckett reported a letter as approved by Council during the February meeting was prepared, signed
and mailed to GDS on March 4, 2009. He also reported the supervisor for GDS has been stopping at the office
each Friday to ascertain if any pickups were missed. Councilwoman reported the garbage pickup personnel are
abusing the garbage containers by the manner in which they handle the pickup on Lude Johnson. Councilman
Puckett advised he will notify GDS personnel of this problem.
Councilman Cohenour opened a discussion regarding traffic cutting through on Darby Street. He also inquired to
having caution light at Hwy 357 & Main Street corrected.
With no further business presented, a motion was made by Councilman Cohenour to adjourn, second by
Councilman Matthews. The meeting was adjourned at 7:26 PM.
